The Florida Gulf Coast University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a phenomenal resource located right in Fort Myers. They host training seminars, offer business consulting, and provide a number of resources to individuals looking to start or improve their small businesses. These resources are all free. Many of the seminars feature special guests who have years of wisdom and sage advice to offer business owners like yourself.

2: U.S. Small Business Administration

The United States Small Business Administration website has a plethora of resources for new businesses, including those who are looking to create a new business and for those who have just gotten started. Some of the resources they provide include helpful business checklists, information on filing taxes, applying for business licenses and names, and even cybersecurity, to name a few. You can even apply for business loans through the SBA website. Aside from the website, there are a number of offices throughout Southwest Florida that work in conjunction with local volunteers to help grow your business.


SCORE is an excellent business mentoring resource that is run by volunteers who want to make a positive economic impact in Southwest Florida. They offer business counseling, one-on-one meetings, and low-cost seminars and workshops. Additionally, you can find free recorded webinars on important topics, such as how to bring a product to market and the right ways to do email marketing, which you can view at any time right from your office!

The Bonita Springs Estero Economic Development Council is committed to building a profitable and economically diverse economy in Southwest Florida. Offering consulting services, facilitating moves to the area, and providing assistance when it comes to permitting, getting loans, and even finding quality employees, the Bonita Springs Estero EDC has a wealth of knowledge and is eager to help your business. You can also be connected to a number of other business resources and organizations, such as Chamber of Commerce offices, through the EDC.
